Spanish, Chinese, and Russian Translation Instructors

JTG is looking for translation instructors with native or near native English language skills in the following source languages: Spanish, Chinese, and Russian. The ideal candidate must be a seasoned translator with  instruction experience. 

Location: Online and in person
Duration: 7+ weeks
 

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre and post workshop assessments that require no more than 90 minutes to complete by the students
• Use established translation materials and conduct asynchronous interaction through LMS with the students
• Provide feedback to each student on verbatim translation from Source Language to English
• Provide feedback to each student on improving congruity judgment
• Provide feedback to each student on the use of English grammar and expression
• Provide feedback to each student to focus on overcoming any tendency to adhere to source language structures resulting in English language expressions that are awkward or unidiomatic and may obscure meaning or impact accuracy
• Note patterns of errors, provide examples and explanations of correct usage and provide corrective practice exercises for each student, or the group if required

Requirements for Successful Candidates

• US citizenship
• BS/BA or MS/MA, or foreign equivalent degree in relevant language education field
• Native or near native English language skills
• Experience in using LMS 
• Familiarity with the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Skill Level
• Experience teaching with the communicative approach
