Target Language Experts Nationwide

JTG is currently seeking Target Language Experts in Arabic Yemeni, Chechen, Chinese Mandarin, Chinese Taiwanese (Minnan), French North African, Tajik

Location: remote

Timeline: approximately 10-15 hours per week over 3-4 weeks

Responsibilities:

• Select, review, transcribe (for audio passages), and translate short audio target-language passages from authentic sources at the required Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) level.

Basic Qualifications:

• Native or near-native proficiency in the language
• Academic and/or professional background in linguistics, second language teaching, assessment, or translation
• Technological capability of searching the Internet, recording, and editing audio files using software, and using Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with content selection for language proficiency development or assessment
• Familiarity with the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) language proficiency scale
• Translation experience or familiarity with translation principles

Education: Bachelor's degree or higher

This position reports to the Project Manager.
